Douglas Adams, that great expositor of simple truths, fa- mously summed up what he took to be the product of the past few centuries of progress in astronomy: “Far out in the un- charted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spi- ral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun.” But as is often the case, fashionable is not the same as comfortable. We live in prime real estate.
