Fermi's Paradox and it's insights outside of space-time

The jury is still out on the exact probability with which civilizations arise in a galaxy, but Fermi's paradox is a very true, and important question.

After science feels confident on a more precise estimate for the probability of the development of civilization, and we have either: evidence of other civilizations, or a more accurate calculation of what is expected, I believe the results may be used in connection with the Simulation Argument. That is: If we never find extra-terrestrial life, it should a strong argument to believe we are running inside a simulation.

Yes, I am aware fermi's paradox, and the simulation argument are rather orthogonal, but you must accept there is at least SOME interplay here.

Abortion - Religion - Stupidity.

I am enraged.

Every time I hear arguments against legalizing abortion I am dragged into rageful despair; the argument tends to state: all life is precious, and it begins on the moment of conception; so society must protect it, at ANY cost. This argument is carried out from beginning to end loosing respectability at each step:

1. most everyone agrees on life's preciousness,
2. about 40% of the world is certain life begins at conception and not birth,
3. finally, it can be argued: virtually no one would kill a random family of 3 to birth a child.

It is easy to understand how it can become a sensitive issue, but every time some fanatic starts arguing for outright abolishment I simply realize how dumb we all are. Stupidity is arguably why religion is so in tune with power, its simply too easy for man to become sheep; to blindly obey and disregard the beautiful causality which exists in our universe. It starts with imagining someone or something being able to do whatever they/it wants and then replacing whatever causal rules actually exist and are observable in this universe with something else.

There is a conscientious and logical deductive path that guides us towards a challenging observation: we need to make all us dimwits smarter, at least in our capability of foresight (or causal search if you will). Enough of this, its amazing how much we need to advance, that we REALLY DON'T SEE WHATS RIGHT IN FRONT OF US!

I propose a worldwide goal:
Raise the global IQ level by 30 points (obviously without recalibrating the scoring statistics). This should be a stated global incentive.

I loved the dynamics of the scene, and the reality of the three involved characters, I can just imagine the series of events that led to her emotional withdrawl...

I've lived the reality of many things here stated...

It is very true how much self-discipline and persistence of focus is critical in achieving long term goals.

Unfortunately this seams so much easier said than done for some... : /

Esto es tan cierto para mi... Hoy he leido mucha noticias... interesantes, aburridas, tristes, alarmantes, contradictorias y que se yo.

Los Toy Tigers, el genio que opino meter el Colossol squid en un micro-ondas, el estado de New Mexico que legislo re-clasificar a pluto como un planeta cuando esta sobre su 'air space'.

Tambien un articulo que las vacunas viejas de tuberculosis vuelven a ser efectivas, mejor opcion que las nuevas... Usar germnanio para enganar bacterias y creer que tienen suficiente hierro.

La memoria fotografica y que mi novia ya no es tan bueno planeano rutas si esta manejando... Coco (el del trabajo) que insiste en que el cerebro humano no tiene limites... Ademas, el articulo sobre la actividad epigenetica que asiste en el almacenamiento de memorias, y los avances de la gente de numenta....

Porque no podemos considerar esto como un proceso interno de Gaia, en su crecimiento y comunicacion con otros planetas similares? El problema es la escala de tiempo, es nuestra necesidad de clasificar apropiadamente las cosas. Diriamos: el planta no esta vivo en la m isma manera que una vaca o una ameba lo estan. De la misma menra en que pluton no es un planeta... Pero en fin. si entre suenos es que nos encontramos en este universo, y Stephan Hawking dio su charla importantisima de como el universo se tomo prestado de nada.. cosa que me fascino cuando lei su brief history of time. y me motivo a responderle a carmen una vez: 'porque no'.

no se... comparto el caos en mi cabeza, como una inspiracion hacia la creatividad. y la originalidad. sigamos absorbiendo como esponjas, y demonos la oportunidad de re-inventarnos como una nueva estrucutra... veamos de maxwell y newton el continuo de espacio tiempo en la estructura que es nuestra vida, nuestra sociedad, nuestro planeta, y nuestras reglas.

Dr Eleanor Maguire says, 'We believe the brain increased in gray matter volume because of the huge amount of data memorized.' She warns against the use of GPS and says it will possibly affect the brain changes seen in this study. This research is the first to show that the brains of adults can grow in response to specialist use."
