tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7642103.post108998714180031207..comments2023-03-25T20:16:52.314-04:00Comments on hobbes in the web, imagine myself without.: Software that lasts 200 yearsRodolfo Hansenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14989851961295766496noreply@blogger.comBlogger1125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7642103.post-1090250996873172942004-07-19T11:29:00.000-04:002004-07-19T11:29:00.000-04:00this stability you talk about.. software that last...this stability you talk about.. software that lasts centuries.. its what lead the galaxy to its original stagnation in the foundation saga. perhaps a lack of necesity, or maybe convenience for the ruling aristocracy.. yet there's always a group, in this case hari seldon and his foundations, which strives to activate the power of creation bestowed upon the human mind, and at this, thoroughly succeeds (unless there's a "fall of the second foundation" chapter i haven't reached yet).<br /><br />of course, this analogy proves nothing but a mortal's imagination capabilities.. thus, paradoxically, proving everything. there's a kind of art to it..<br /><br />as for art, i dont think it'll ever fail.. it's expression at its fullest. wether it be on a canvas or in a holographic three-dimensional decor, through monophonic sound or an environmentally adapted infinite.1 surround sound, through ballet or gravitationally suspended acrobats.. the human being has the need of expression. it's been forged psychologically from generation to generation, and has existed since the beginnig of human time. too big a change would have to occur for it to eventually dissapear, and would probably balance itself with another form of expression, which will at its time come to be art.<br /><br />all this said, in the short-run we can do nothing but live and pass on our knowledge and findings to our next generations. they will be responsible for carrying it on in a recursive fashion, thus incurring in a general enhancement of knowledge itself, and evading this so feared stagnation.luijohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02999852567905073043noreply@blogger.com
